  1. My mother never handled finances before my father died and after he passed, she saw a walk-in bathtub on TV and called the number and made an appointment. My sister greeted him at the door and told him “She doesn’t own the house and my husband said no to a walk-in tub.” He went to her suite and when he left my sister brought mom a coffee and noticed her check book out. She had written a check to the man for $10,000. My sister called me and I immediately called the bank to put a stop pay on the check. Then I called the company and was told there was nothing I could do. They had a contract and the check already. Fortunately the bank honored the stop pay on the check.
